Motlow State Community College is partnering with educators throughout Tennessee to use immersive technologies like virtual and augmented reality in the learning environment. These tools, collectively known as XR or Immersive Learning, have proven to provide powerful learning outcomes in many fields. Tullahoma High School recently joined the XR Community of Practice with Motlow, adding to the growing number of educational institutions turning to immersive learning.
Attention designers, artists, actors, and digital illustrators and animators, beginning in the Spring of 2022, Motlow State Community College will be offering three new Associate of Fine Arts degrees at the Moore County campus.
Cyber defense is critical for daily operations. Cyber-attacks are increasingly more common and there are many different types. Many people have received phishing emails or have been the victim of a cybercrime. This modern dilemma is why Motlow State Community College is continuously preparing students for the future.
Motlow recently approved a new Penetration Testing and Network Defense Course for students that is scheduled to begin in Spring 2022. The course focuses on essential skills for penetration testers and other network security professionals, such as how hackers attack computers and networks, and how to protect Windows and Linux systems.
Beginning this Fall, Motlow State Community College will offer a concentration in Digital Agronomy as part of its current Associate of Applied Science Degree in Entrepreneurship.
"This new degree pathway is part of Motlow's commitment to developing a new pipeline of agricultural professionals equipped to support the technology needs of today's farmers," said Dr. Melody Edmonds, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs at Motlow.
Dr. Erica Lee, completion coach; and Barbara Scales, chief compliance, equity, and inclusion officer at Motlow State Community College, are among 21 faculty and staff members from colleges and universities across Tennessee who were selected to participate in the 2021-22 Class of the Maxine Smith Fellows program.
Houston Austin, of Sparta, was recently named the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director for Motlow State Community College. Prior to this new role, he served as the EMT/AEMT Coordinator for the College.

Motlow State Community College is seeking adjunct instructors. Motlow recruits talented and effective educators as adjuncts. The College hosted a virtual adjunct recruitment event in early June. Collaboration between Academic Affairs and External Affairs resulted in approximately 300 potential applicants registered.

The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) recently announced its annual Regents' Award for Excellence in Philanthropy and Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.
Nominated by Motlow State Community College, the Town of Smyrna was named as one of four Regent's Award winners; and Dr. Sam H. Ingram, Motlow's first president, was named among the 13 Chancellor's Award winners.
