Motlow Among Leaders in Diversity, Access, and Inclusion

Higher Ed By The NumbersMotlow State Community College is a leader among Tennessee’s community colleges in addressing diversity, access, and inclusion. Data shows Motlow with the second-highest percentage of Hispanic students and the highest Pell-eligible student completion rate in the state.

During Motlow’s Fall Convocation, Dr. Shawn Boyd, postsecondary program and engagement manager at State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), presented “Higher Ed by the Numbers,” which focused on Tennessee community colleges mission outcomes. According to SCORE, Motlow had the highest Pell-eligible student completion rate of any community college from 2017-19.

Motlow also had the highest Pell-eligible student first-to-second-year persistence rate of any community college. The College tied for second-highest overall persistence rate with above average rates across all student groups.

Additionally, credit earning rates at Motlow are 10 points above the community college sector average. The College has the second-highest overall credit-earning rate and the highest Pell-eligible credit-earning rate.
