Athens State University Transfer Agreement

Motlow State and Athens State University (ASU) have two agreements to enable Motlow graduates to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Athens State is located in Athens, Alabama, approximately one hour from Motlow’s Fayetteville campus and one and half hours from Motlow’s Moore County campus.

Courses taken at Motlow State toward an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Bioinformatics can be transferred to Athens State towards a B.S. in Biology with a Bioinformatics option.

All Bioinformatics majors who are required to take Learning Support must complete MSCC 1300-First Year Experience at Motlow.

CONDITIONS FOR TRANSFER: This applies only to the B.S. degree in Biology-Bioinformatics option. A change of major invalidates these courses/credits for transfer. A minimum 2.00 GPA is required for transferrable credit.

Motlow State’s agreement with Athens State (ASU) in Health Sciences is a dual admission agreement designed to facilitate the transfer process. Students have the option to declare their intent to enroll at Athens State when completing a Motlow admissions application. Students accepted in the dual admissions program will have their Athens State admissions application fee waived at enrollment. The curriculum pathway outlines Motlow courses needed for transfer to ASU and required courses at ASU to complete the Bachelor of Science in Health Science.

TRANSFER OF CREDIT

All coursework and credits needed to complete the A.S., Health Sciences Area of Emphasis at Motlow State will be accepted for transfer to Athens State in Areas I–V and major requirements up to a maximum of 64 credit hours. A minimum of 36 earned transferable hours is required for enrollment at Athens State.

REVERSE TRANSFER OF CREDIT

Students who have not yet completed an Associate of Science degree can transfer credits earned at Athens State back to Motlow State to fulfill general education requirements. Reverse transfer of credits provides students with an opportunity to complete their Associate of Science degree while attending Athens State if continued enrollment at Motlow State is not a viable option.
