The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Mechatronics is a two-year program designed for graduates to enter the workforce.

The AAS in Mechatronics prepares you for a career in fields such as automotive, power production, manufacturing, and more.

When you have finished the Mechatronics Certificate, you will take the Level 2 Certification Examination to become a Certified Mechatronic Systems Associate (High-level technician).

Mechatronics Pathways


The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Mechatronics with a Robotics concentration is a two-year program designed for graduates to enter the workforce.

The AAS in Mechatronics with Robotics Concentration prepares you for a career in fields such as automotive, power production, manufacturing, robotics, and more.

When you have finished the Mechatronics AAS with Robotics Concentration, you will have the opportunity to earn the following industry certifications: Yaskawa Safety Principles, Intro to Robotics, FS100 Basic Operator Training, and FS100 Robot Controller Basic Programming with Material Handling.


Robotics Pathways


The one-year Certificate is designed for graduates to either enter the workforce or continue to the A.A.S. program.

When you have finished the Mechatronics Certificate, you will take the Level 1 Certification Examination to become a Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant (Intelligent machine operator).

The Certificate in Mechatronics prepares you for a career in many fields such as automotive, power production, manufacturing, and more.

  4. Complete the Mechatronics Application

Transfer Info

All collegiate-level transfer coursework for the Mechatronics program will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  1. Course similarity within the programs enrolled in at Motlow
  2. Courses with similar content taught at the same level as Motlow
  3. Same credentialing requirements for faculty at the transferring institution. Credit towards degree or certificate program requirements will be given for transfer coursework that meets all criteria. Mechatronics courses will be evaluated by the Director of Career Readiness

Practical Experience

  • Be exposed to basic functions of electrical components, the systematic flow of energy and measurement of components
  • Learn troubleshooting techniques, systematic preventive maintenance and safety with respect to electrical components, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and PLCs used in a mechatronics system
  • Study the basic pneumatic, electro pneumatic and hydraulic control circuits in a mechatronics system
  • Study basic digital logic and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in a mechatronics system using the automation system SIMATIC S7-300 and the programming software STEP7
  • Develop skills to work as a technician in an integrated multidisciplinary industrial environment
  • Acquire the knowledge and hands-on training in electronics, mechanics and computers to work in a variety of industrial and manufacturing related business
  • Upon successful completion of the program, you will complete the Level 2 Certification Examination to become a certified Siemens Mechatronics System Assistant
