General Education Requirements

  • ENGL 1010, 1020 / 6 credit hours
  • COM 1010 / 3 credit hours
  • ENGL 2030 / 3 credit hours
  • One of the following: ENGL 2130, 2230 or 2330 / 3 credit hours
  • One of the following: ART 1030, COM 1030, or MUS 1030 / 3 credit hours
  • ANT 2010, ECON 2010 / 6 credit hours
  • HIST 2010, 2020 / 6 credit hours
  • One year sequence in BIOL, CHEM, or PHYS / 8 credit hours
  • One of the following: MATH 1010, MATH 1530, MATH 1630, MATH 1710, MATH 1910* / 3-4 credit hours

    Area of Emphasis Requirements

  • One-year sequence in a foreign language / 6 credit hours
  • HIS 1010, 1020 or HIS 1110, 1120 / 6 credit hours
  • POL 1110, POL 1120 / 6 credit hours
  • General Electives / 0-1 credit hours

    * MATH 1710 and MATH 1720 are required courses for students lacking the background to start with MATH 1910. This requirement will be verified by the mathematics faculty and the individual advisor.

    Students who are planning to pursue licensure in secondary education at MTSU or TTU should take EDU 2110 and either EDU 1110 or EDU 1120 as prerequisites for admission to teacher education programs.
