CIC Foundation Donates to the Motlow College Foundation
December 20, 2011
The Motlow College Foundation recently hosted the year-end trustee meeting and holiday reception at the Moore County campus. Les Enoch of DeKalb County is a trustee of the Foundation and the CEO of Middle Tennessee Natural Gas Utility District in Smithville. In true holiday spirit, he came bearing gifts for Motlow students from the CIC Foundation, Inc., of which he is a board member.
The CIC Foundation, Inc. is a scholarship and educational foundation that awards scholarships in middle Tennessee and Kentucky. According to Enoch, "Applications for scholarships are sent to the high schools for graduating seniors and if there is money leftover, we make donations to colleges for higher education."
CIC awarded Motlow $5,000 in 2009 and last year they donated $10,000. At this year's reception Enoch presented a $15,000 check to the Motlow College Foundation. Jan Rogers, director of advancement at Motlow said, "We are very grateful for the continued support we have received from Mr. Enoch and the CIC Foundation. This very generous donation will help many students achieve their goal of obtaining a college education. We will earmark $5,000 of this donation for transitional scholarships."
The new transition scholarship fund was established this year with a beginning donation from the Sherrills of Manchester. The fund will help returning students, who demonstrate the potential and desire to complete their college education at Motlow, transition back into college. Students who return to college, after having previously attended and dropped out, have to prove themselves academically before becoming eligible for financial aid. The scholarship fund provides adult students with tuition and book costs for the first two returning semesters of college giving them the opportunity to improve their academic standing to qualify for other types of financial assistance.
