Motlow College and TSU Sign Dual Admissions Agreement
December 2, 2011
Dr. MaryLou Apple, president of Motlow College and Dr. Bonny Copenhaver, provost of Motlow visited the campus of Tennessee State University (TSU) recently to sign an agreement between the two schools. In keeping with the recent Tennessee Pathways Guarantee, the presidents signed a dual admissions agreement to assure a seamless transfer from Motlow to TSU.
TSU officials present were Dr. Portia Shields, president of TSU; Sharon Peters, director of the Center for Extended Education; Dr. Dennis Gendron, provost and vice president of academic affairs; and Bill Joslin, counselor of off-campus programs.
Motlow College has recently entered into similar agreements with Middle Tennessee State University and Austin Peay University. "For a long time community colleges have longed for a great relationship with four-year universities. This is one of many partnerships forged with TSU that we believe will continue to help our students succeed," said Dr. Apple.
"We wanted to find out how our students could keep a job, take care of a family and go to college," said Dr. Shields. "Partnerships such as this will allow not only our students, but students from our partnering schools, the opportunity to continue their day to day lives, while excelling educationally. We will continue to develop alternatives for our non-traditional students that will keep them in school, until the end."
