Motlow and MTSU Sign Dual Admission Agreement
November 7, 2011
Since the historic passing of the Complete College Tennessee Act of 2010, several changes have taken place in higher education institutions. A major step forward for students in the state was the creation of a guarantee called Tennessee Transfer Pathways (TTP). Recognizing the new pathways, Dr. MaryLou Apple, president of Motlow College, and Dr. Sidney A. McPhee, president of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), recently met to guarantee a seamless transfer between the two schools.
The Dual Admission Program will assure that Motlow students who fulfill all requirements will be guaranteed admission to MTSU. Along with choosing one of the Tennessee Transfer Pathways, students must meet Motlow College admissions standards, earn up to 29 collegiate level credits and maintain a cumulative 2.0 grade-point average.
According to data from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, Motlow is MTSU's No. 1 feeder school. Advising for the new program will be available at both institutions and students from Motlow will be able to register for MTSU during priority registration periods.
Dr. Apple said, "We are thrilled to recognize this agreement because the majority of our students that transfer to a university in pursuit of a bachelor's degree choose MTSU. The Dual Admission Program should help enhance the student success rate at both schools."
