Motlow College announces new History and Government ClubOctober 31, 2013
Motlow College recently announced the formation of the History and Government Club, or the HGC. The HGC will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 2:00 p.m. in Simon Hall 136 on the Moore County campus. Pizza and refreshments will be served, and students from all campuses are invited and encouraged to attend.
The club's purpose is to further the study of history and government beyond the classroom and to emphasize the importance of both in our everyday lives. Membership gives students an opportunity to find mentoring and to learn about academic majors, minors, and concentrated areas within subjects relating to history and the government. Students also get to meet others who are interested in learning about these subjects.
Any student in good standing with the college is qualified to be a member. Dr. David Bowlby, assistant professor of history and political science at Motlow College, will advise the club.
"I am honored to serve as the faculty advisor for the HGC and trust that our club will be able to provide resources to our student members and the campus community," Bowlby stated.
Some future career options open for discussion include educator, archivist, historic preservationist, museum curator, bureaucrat, and service in local, state, or national government.
