McCoy said she felt she was called to become a nurse, "My husband had a horrific car accident in 2005 and thanks to the wonderful doctors and awesome nurses in the trauma unit at Vanderbilt Hospital, he survived." She said experiencing first-hand the difference a nurse can make in the lives of other people inspired her to become a nurse. She continued, "I want to be that nurse who makes a difference for patients and families faced with adversities."
John and Reba Shipp of Atlantic Beach, Fla. recently established the Nancy Wilson Wagner Nursing Scholarship funded by the Shipp Family Trust.
