Veronica Omitowoju Begins Motlow Nursing Scholarship after Graduating
October 11, 2011

When Veronica Olanrewaju Omitowoju saw a downturn in the economy she worried that her career as a personal financial advisor would suffer. She said, "I have always had it in the back of my head that I wanted to be a nurse and now seemed like the perfect time to expand my skills." She applied for Motlow's nursing program and in May, 2011 she graduated. Soon after her own graduation she began a scholarship to help other women complete the program.
The first recipient of the Veronica Olanrewaju Omitowoju Nursing Scholarship at Motlow College is Janet Knorp of Murfreesboro. Veronica's goal was to help a woman over 40 with unusual challenges to obtain a nursing degree. She said, "I want to inspire another nursing student to stay in school and finish. Having been through the program, I know it's worth it. I just want to encourage others and let them know you can do it."
Janet Knorp is the mother of five sons. The younger two boys, ages seven and eleven, are adopted and have autism. Knorp admits going to school full time with special needs children will definitely be a challenge but with the scholarship and her great support system she believes she will succeed. Her goal is to be able to financially assist her children into their adult years with independent care.
