Tammie Leister of Tullahoma is the recipient of the Veronica Olanrewaju Omitowoju Nursing Scholarship at Motlow College, according to Jan Rogers, director of advancement at the college.
Leister is a 1982 graduate of Oakland High School and is in Motlow's first-year nursing class. She and her husband, Steve, have two children: 19-year-old Waylyn, and Tori, who is 15. Leister said she is grateful for the scholarship and "flattered and humbled" that she is this year's recipient.
"It has restored my faith in the goodness of others," she said.
Omitowoju established the scholarship that bears her name shortly after her own graduation from Motlow's Nursing Program in 2011. This scholarship and many others are awarded through the Motlow College Foundation. Anyone can contribute to existing scholarships or establish new ones. For more information, visit the foundation's website at www.mscc.edu/advancement/foundation, call Rogers at 931-393-1692 or 1-800-654-4877 ext. 1692, or email email@example.com.
In addition to scholarships available through the foundation, there are many other opportunities available to students through financial aid and institutional scholarships. They are listed on Motlow's website at www.mscc.edu/scholarships.
