Sept. 17, 2015

Motlow College's Fayetteville Center will open up its computer labs from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, for area high school seniors to sign up for Tennessee Promise and fill out their Motlow applications. The event is designed to encourage students to enroll in Tennessee Promise, Governor Bill Haslam's program to provide two years of community college or technical school tuition. Tennessee Promise is part of the Drive to 55 initiative to increase the number of Tennesseans with some form of post-secondary credential, such as a college degree or technical certificate.

During Open House Thursday, students may come to the Fayetteville Center and use the college's computers to sign up online. Free pizza will be on hand for anyone signing up.

"Tennessee Promise is such an incredible opportunity for students to pursue their dreams after high school," said Jonathan Graham, Tennessee Promise coordinator for Motlow. "We want to make signing up for the Promise a celebration for the students and also give them an opportunity to get their application to Motlow in at the same time. This puts them well on their way down the path to a degree or certificate."

Tennessee Promise Director Mike Krause said he hoped many Tennessee students would participate and complete their application. "Tennessee Promise has changed the conversation about going to college in our state, and I hope we can encourage students to sign up early," Krause said.

The Motlow Fayetteville Center is located at 1802 Winchester Highway.
