Tullahoma's Crawford awarded Liz Williams Nursing Scholarship at Motlow College

September 3, 2013

Ms. Janice Elaine Crawford of Tullahoma has received the Liz Williams Nursing Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year. She is enrolled in the LPN transition to RN program at Motlow College, which is a three semester program.

Ms. Crawford has been employed at Harton Regional Medical Center since earning her LPN certificate in 2000. Her experience has been medical, med-surge and neurological nursing. Ms. Crawford says she wants to become an RN so that she can become a more integral part of her workplace.

The Liz Williams Nursing Scholarship fund was set up by a group of friends and co-workers of Ms. Williams at CareFusion after her death due to pancreatic cancer.

When hospitalized for her illness, the nurse caring for her was a Motlow College nursing graduate. When Ms. Williams' daughter spoke to the nurse and asked that she take good care of her mother, the nurse's response was, "It would be an honor". When this story and the details of Ms. Williams' care were related to a co-worker, Ms. Rhonda McManus, she was so touched that she decided to start the scholarship fund.

Anyone wishing to contribute to this scholarship fund, which is specifically for nursing students in the LPN transition to RN program at Motlow College, should contact the Motlow College Foundation, a 501c3, and speak with Jan Casey Rogers, director of advancement at 931-393-1692.
