The Public is Invited to Motlow College's
"Meet the Bucks Media Day"
August 12, 2011
Motlow College has taken steps during the summer to re-energize the promotion and awareness of its athletic department, including creating new team logos, adding social media outlets, and the debut of a new athletics website < www.motlowsports.com>.
As part of the increased effort to raise awareness of Motlow athletics, the college is inviting students and the general public to gather inside Nisbett Center at Motlow's Moore County campus at noon on Wednesday, August 31 for a 'Meet the Bucks/Media Day' event.
"We are very excited about this opportunity to feature our athletes and coaches in an environment where Motlow students and the public have open access to interact and get to know each other," said Athletic Director Jerry Nichols.
The 'Meet the Bucks/Media Day' is part of Motlow's Welcome Week activities as students return for the first full week of the new academic year. An afternoon of fun, food and prizes is planned beginning with free lunch for everyone! Hotdogs, popcorn and soft drinks will be served prior to introductions of Motlow's athletes.
The Bucks and Lady Bucks basketball teams will perform shooting exhibitions for entertainment. They, along with the softball and baseball teams, will be available for pictures, autographs, and interaction with the public.
Promotional items will be given away bearing the new Motlow athletic logos including t-shirts and megaphones. In addition to the Motlow items, several area businesses throughout the College's service area have donated prizes for games and giveaways.
As the public and students enjoy lunch at noon, invited members of area media outlets will gather in a designated room inside Nisbett Center for the first-ever, official Media Day. Coach Nichols, along with softball coach Tori Raby-Gentry and baseball coach Dan McShea, will address the media and introduce one or two of their players for the upcoming seasons.
"Our goal is to give the student body and the public a chance to connect one-on-one with our student athletes," added Nichols. "Motlow offers outstanding athletic teams, and the quality of basketball, baseball, and softball we play is very high. We want to make people more aware of that and encourage them to support our teams, and we feel this event will help in that process."
