Classes at Motlow Help Students Prepare for ACT

August 4, 2011

Motlow College is offering an ACT Prep class at three of its locations to help area students prepare for the ACT test. Classes will be held at the main campus in Moore County as well as the Fayetteville and McMinnville Centers. The Prep class will focus on the four areas of the ACT: English, mathematics, reading and science. Emphasis will be on test-taking skills, logical analysis and pacing oneself. Practice tests will be administered during the course and at the conclusion.

The cost of the course is $60 and registration is not complete until payment has been received. Registration forms and instructions are available on the College's website: <>

Students will need to purchase a textbook the first night of class for $30.95. Exact change or a check made payable to Motlow College Bookstore will be required. The textbook will only be available the first night of class.

Sheila Gann will be the instructor for the ACT Prep course at Motlow's Moore County campus. Classes will take place five consecutive Mondays, September 12, 19 and 26 and October 3 and 10 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.  The course is limited to 35 students and the deadline to register is Friday, September 2, at 4:30 p.m.

The Motlow College Fayetteville Center will offer the course on four consecutive Thursdays, September 29, October 6, 13 and 20, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The class is limited to 25 students and the deadline to register is Thursday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m.  Gayle "Mimi" Hughes will be the instructor.

Students wishing to attend the ACT Prep class at Motlow's McMinnville Center can do so on five consecutive Tuesdays, September 13, 20 and 27 and October 4 and 11. Class time is 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Sheila Gann will be the instructor. Deadline to register is Friday, September 2 at 4:30 p.m.

The ACT Prep class does NOT register a student to sit for the actual ACT exam. Information about how to register for the national test can be obtained at <> or through any high school's guidance counselor's office. The classes at Motlow are designed to prepare students for the next available national test date of October 22 with a registration deadline of September 16.
