Motlow's PTK of McMinnville Tailgate All Night Long for Relay Event
July 7, 2011
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members of Motlow's McMinnville Center participated in Warren County's Relay for Life event to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. The College's booth was decorated in the theme of a "Motlow Tailgate Party" featuring the Motlow Bucks and slogan, "Fear the Deer." Gregg Garrison, advisor for the McMinnville Center's PTK said, "I am very pleased with the event and all of the wonderful students and family members who made it spectacular."
According to Garrison, the students sold over 360 chicken kabobs as well as burgers, chips and drinks. They also offered face painting and sponsored other games at their booth. The group earned the Bronze Team Award for raising $3,055 for the cause. The total was a culmination of six months of fundraising and donations during the Relay for Life event. Other awards received were two 1st place distinctions for Most Money Raised by a School and Best Sign. Two second place recognitions were earned for Best Overall Campsite and Best Team Attire for their Motlow Bucks "Fear the Deer" shirts.
