Photography Buffs to Reunite at Motlow
Public Invited to Clayton-Glass Library July 8
June 23, 2011
Bonnie Davis of McMinnville, a photographer and former Motlow student and teacher, announces a special community event to be held Friday, July 8, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the Clayton-Glass library at Motlow's Moore County campus between Tullahoma and Lynchburg. Area photographers or anyone interested in photography is invited to attend. Davis specifically encourages former members, friends and relatives of members of the Tullahoma Camera Club, Motlow Camera Club and Southern School of Photography to attend for a reunion.
An exhibit called "A Century of Cameras" is already in place at the library featuring images from Davis' Visage collection, a photographic archive of glass negatives from the early 1900's and a to-scale model of Dad Lively's 'Room size' camera from 1909 built by Charles E. Craven of Huntsville, Al.
Numerous images will be on display the day of the event including ones from the old Southern School of Photography in McMinnville and from famous 'Hillbilly Snap Shooter' Joe Clark. Davis will share a gallery of photos shot in different locations in middle Tennessee and northern Alabama.
Special guests include a former student of Wilson Hicks, the first photo editor of Life Magazine. Attendees are encouraged to bring images (new or old) for a 'photographic show and tell.' All formats are welcome; digital or dry mounted work.
