Psi Beta Psychology Honor Society Chapter established at Motlow CollegeMay 5, 2015
The establishment of a Psi Beta honor society chapter at Motlow College was recently approved by the Psi Beta national council, according to Dr. Stephen Guerin, associate professor of psychology at Motlow, Psi Beta faculty advisor, and retired clinical psychologist.
Psi Beta is the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges. The Motlow chapter is one of only three Psi Beta chapters in the Tennessee Board of Regents system, with the other two being at Northeast State Community College and Southwest Tennessee Community College.
According to the Psi Beta national council, Psi Beta's mission is to, "encourage professional development and recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, research and community service."
"There are a number of benefits to students for membership in Psi Beta," said Guerin. "For one, being a member of a nationally recognized academic honor society greatly enhances a student's resume wherever their educational or career path may take them."
Students do not have to be majoring in psychology to be a member of Psi Beta.
Students who have an interest in psychology, have completed at least one course in psychology, and have a minimum institutional GPA of 3.25 and at least 12 semester hours of credit, may contact Dr. Guerin at 931-393-1703 or email@example.com if they are interested in Psi Beta.
