April 29, 2013

Golfers are invited to the 22nd annual Charles Gleghorn Invitational Golf Tournament on May 17 at the Fayetteville Golf and Country Club. The tournament is sponsored by the Bank of Lincoln County and benefits the Motlow College Foundation.

Representatives of Motlow College and the Bank of Lincoln County met at the bank to plan the 22nd annual Charles Gleghorn Invitational Golf Tournament, set for May 17 at the Fayetteville Golf and Country Club. Seated, from left, are BLC representatives Hayes Ellett, a loan assistant; Jack Netherland, vice president of public relations; and Gay Dempsey, executive vice president; and standing, from left, Phyllis Daniel, coordinator of advancement and special events at Motlow; Veronica King, administrative secretary at Motlow's Fayetteville Center; Charles Gleghorn, the bank's CEO; Jan Rogers, director of advancement at the college; and Justin Harwell, assistant vice president at BLC.
The Gleghorn Invitational includes two rounds, with shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Breakfast is available at 7:15 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. In addition to cash prizes for first, second and third places for each of three flights, special prizes will be given for closest to the pin on holes three and five and longest drive on hole four for both the morning and afternoon rounds. The winner of a special contest on hole 12 will receive half of the tournament proceeds.

Automobile dealerships in Fayetteville have taken turns over the years sponsoring a hole-in-one competition on hole 5. This year, Carriage Chevrolet will present a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu to the golfer making the hole-in-one.

The entry fee for the tournament is $110 per person or $440 per team, and includes golf, cart, food, greens fee, mulligans and prizes. The rain date for the event is May 24.
