Public invited to Career Fair at Motlow April 23April 12, 2013
Motlow College students and area citizens are invited to a Career Fair on April 23, according to Tom Dillingham, director of career planning and extended services at the college.
The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the courtyard between Simon Hall and Forrester Student Center on Motlow's Moore County campus, and will be moved to Nisbett Center in the event of inclement weather. There is no pre-registration or fee required for students or members of the community to attend the event.
Job seekers are encouraged to dress for success and bring copies of their resumes. The fair provides networking opportunities for businesses and industries to meet prospective employees. Representatives of manufacturing, banking, engineering, health care, continuing education, military, beauty care and other industries will set up booths to promote their individual businesses and job openings.
This year's fair will include the Tennessee Dept. of Labor's Career Coach Bus, a mobile center with services similar to those found in a Tennessee Career Center. The Career Coach includes a computer lab with tools for job seekers, such as workshops for resume assistance and interviewing skills. The Coach also serves as a recruitment center for companies moving into Tennessee and helps identify what employers are looking for from applicants.
Also, personnel from the State of Tennessee Labor and Workforce Development area offices will be on hand to assist with resume writing and will hold mock interview sessions. They also will share information about local job opportunities.
Some of the companies that have confirmed their attendance are A.O. Smith Water Products, Aid & Assist, Ascend Federal Credit Union, Buchanan Beauty College, Fastenal Co., Frito-Lay Inc., IST Services & Communications, Metropolitan Action Commission, TMX Finance (TitleMax), U.S. Marines Corps, United Parcel Service, West Tennessee Utility Construction Co., Goodwill Career Solutions, Maximus, Inc. (Human Services North America), and National Pen Co., LLC.
As an added service to students and general public, the Tennessee Methamphetamine and Pharmaceutical Task Force is bringing the TN Drug Awareness Trailer to provide training on the dangers of meth and abusing synthetic and prescription drugs.
Representatives of Trevecca Nazarene University will serve hot dogs and drinks to attendees, and members of the Student Government Association will sell desserts to raise funds for 5 Loaves 4 Kids. Games and music are also part of the event's agenda. For more information about the Career Fair, call Dillingham at 931-393-1760 or email email@example.com.
