Motlow College McMinnville Center to host Open House for potential part-time instructorsMarch 24, 2015
The Motlow College McMinnville Center will be holding an open house on Tuesday, April 14, in order to identify and employ additional part-time instructors. The open house will be from 5-7 p.m. in the lobby. Light refreshments will be served.
Anyone interested in teaching part-time for Motlow during the 2015 summer or fall semesters is invited. Applicants must have at least a master's degree in the field in which they will teach or a master's degree in any field with at least 18 graduate hours in the field in which they will teach.
The college is looking for part-time instructors in a wide variety of fields including accounting, English, mathematics, nursing, physical science, theatre and several others. There are openings for both day and evening classes at all four centers (Smyrna, McMinnville, Moore County and Fayetteville) as well as for online classes.
The open house will provide potential instructors the opportunity to meet the department chairs and site directors from all four Motlow campuses. They will also receive information regarding Motlow's pay scale relative to other community colleges in the area, curriculum materials for specific courses, and the formal procedures for application.
"Before part-time instructors begin their teaching assignments, Motlow provides them with complete curriculum packets that include a course syllabus, a suggested daily schedule of classroom activities, sample assignments, sample exams, textbooks, and faculty handbooks listing best practices, Motlow policies, assessment procedures, etc.," said Dr. Cindy Kelley, vice president for academic affairs at Motlow.
"If any experienced adjunct instructor is thinking of teaching for us, we are sure they will find the event to be a stimulating professional experience," added Dr. Kelley. "If any qualified person without experience is thinking of teaching for us, they will find a wonderful support system at Motlow that will help them experience the many rewards of teaching at the college level while also acquiring some extra earnings in this tight economy."
Anyone interested in attending the event on April 14 should contact the McMinnville Center Director, Melody Edmonds, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 931-668-7010 ext. 2110.
