Mrs. Gray, from Winchester, served in the Tennessee Reserve National Guard from 2008-14. While in service, she received many honors and awards, including the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

"My past experiences as a veteran and a mother have shown me that I have many qualities that I can build on as a nurse," said Gray. "My desire is to work in labor and delivery."

Max and Roni Jarrell established their scholarship fund over 10 years ago. The scholarship is awarded up to two years and provides $750 per semester.

To be eligible, students must be in their first-year in the Motlow nursing program, demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA, and demonstrate a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

"We appreciate the generosity of our donors," said Jan Rogers, director of advancement with the Motlow College Foundation. "We depend heavily on their contributions for scholarships, particularly for those who are over 23 years of age who typically do not have other financial aid options."

Others wishing to donate to the Motlow College Foundation or set up a scholarship fund may contact Ms. Rogers at or 931-393-1692.
