Ms. Boyd, who attends the Motlow College McMinnville Center, has worked as a certified medical assistant since 2010 and continues to work while pursuing her RN degree.

"I want to become a nurse to help people in their time of need by working in a traditional healthcare setting, but also by volunteering to help after occurrence of natural disasters as well as on mission trips," said Boyd.

Max and Roni Jarrell established their scholarship fund over 10 years ago. The scholarship is awarded for up to two years and provides $750 per semester. To be eligible, students must be first-year nursing students, demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA, and demonstrate a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

In addition, recipients are chosen based on demonstrated outstanding personal and professional leadership, as well as qualities of integrity and commitment to the practices of nursing and service to humankind

"We appreciate the generosity of our donors," said Jan Rogers, director of advancement at Motlow College. "We depend heavily on their contributions for scholarships, particularly for those who are over 23 years of age who typically do not have other financial aid options."
