McMinnville Center Phi Theta Kappa hosts Dance

January 23, 2014

Members of the Motlow College community recently gathered at the McMinnville Center for the annual semi-formal hosted by Phi Theta Kappa. This year, the dance was Hollywood themed and titled, "Party like a Rock Star."

Among those who attended the Phi Theta Kappa dance, from left: Holly Campbell; Gregg Garrison, McMinnville Center PTK sponsor; Rebekah Sweeton, Dayron Deaton, Dillon Tubb, Gage Myers, Kelsey Jones, Penny Crouch, Jacob Bratcher, Nick Grandy, JT Morgan, Dr. MaryLou Apple, Motlow College president; and Jan Rogers, director of advancement at the college.
The event, open to all PTK members, Motlow alumni, and Motlow personnel, promoted participation among students and gave members of the Motlow family the opportunity to come together as a community. Among those in attendance were Dr. Marylou Apple, president of Motlow College; Jan Rogers, director of advancement; Michael Griffith, Motlow College Foundation member; and Melody Edmonds, director of the McMinnville Center.

"The planning of this event gave PTK members an opportunity to be active problem solvers," said Gregg Garrison, associate professor of biology and McMinnville Center advisor of Phi Theta Kappa. "Students raised donations and developed valuable time management, decorating, and logistics skills."

The dance also served as a fundraiser for the Phi Theta Kappa members to attend the annual convention, a meeting of club members from around the world which takes place every April.
