The Motlow College Foundation Gala is the largest fundraising event of the year for the College and this year's 20th annual event is planned to be bigger and better than ever. The Clayton Family Foundation and American City Bank sponsor the event allowing all proceeds to benefit students through the Motlow College Foundation.
The Gala will be held in the Tennessee Ballroom of the Manchester/Coffee County Conference Center on March 3. The social begins at 6:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 7:30 p.m. The dress is black tie optional. Entertainment will be provided by Key Largo.
The theme for the evening is Starfish Gala - changing lives...one at a time. The theme was inspired by the story of a young boy who was unable to save every starfish that washed ashore but made a difference for the ones that he threw back in the ocean. The Motlow College Foundation has that same mission for students attending Motlow. The Foundation helps individual students in Motlow's 11-county service area manage college expenses.
One popular feature of the evening is the silent auction. According to Phyllis Daniel, coordinator of advancement and special events, "We usually have a wide variety of donated items from businesses and individuals. In the past we've had everything from artwork and collectibles to gift certificates and trips. Among this year's donations we have a Jack Daniel barrel, tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and a two-night stay at Clarion Inns and Suites in Gatlinburg." Volunteers are currently visiting area business seeking donations for this year's event.
The public is invited to the Gala. Admission is a $100 donation to the Foundation per guest. To purchase a ticket or arrange a donation to the silent auction, contact Daniel at 931.393.1543 or Jan Rogers, director of advancement, at 931.393.1692.
