6/28: Tennessee Promise students must complete community service by August 1
All incoming and current Motlow State Community College students have until Aug. 1 to complete eight hours of community service in order to remain eligible for the Tennessee Promise scholarship.

6/17: Motlow State closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day; fall registration continues
Motlow State Community College will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The holiday includes all facilities on the Moore County, Fayetteville, McMinnville, and Smyrna campuses.

6/17: Motlow State Honors Program to host yard sale fundraiser on Moore County campus
The Motlow State Community College honors program will host a yard sale on Saturday, July 9, to raise funds for a trip to the 2016 National Collegiate Honors Council Conference in Seattle, Wash., in October, according to Dr. Scott Cook, assistant vice president for academic affairs and honors program coordinator.

6/16: Motlow State Smyrna campus hosts Red Cross Blood Drive June 29
Motlow State Community College Smyrna campus will host a Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, June 29, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Red Cross Bus that will be located on the Smyrna campus at 5002 Motlow State Blvd.

6/16: Motlow State Honors Program Alumni Association recently formed
The Motlow State Honors Program Alumni Association was recently formed to encourage school and community involvement from the Honors Program alumni. The main goals of the association are to raise revenue for honors scholarships, mentor current honors students, and assist in the recruitment of future students.

6/14: Motlow State Phi Theta Kappa members receive awards at International Convention
Motlow State had 33 members attend the recent Phi Theta Kappa International Convention in National Harbor, Md. Several members and advisors received recognition and awards. The Motlow PTK Chapter group was the largest to attend the convention out of 1,300 chapters.

6/10: Motlow State Smyrna campus offers early morning and Sunday classes
Working adults often find it challenging to return to school due to the schedule demands of their employment and personal lives. Motlow State Community College Smyrna campus is now offering early morning and Sunday classes to provide more opportunity for non-traditional adult learners to further their education in order to improve their lives.

6/7: Motlow State alumnus to be Olympic Torchbearer
Chris Hennessee, a Motlow graduate and resident of Warren County, was recently selected to carry the Olympic Flame ahead of the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He was nominated by a co-worker, whose letter of recommendation praised Hennessee for his dedicated and caring treatment of employees as a manager at Bridgestone Americas, Inc.

6/7: Motlow State and WGU Tennessee renew agreement
Dr. Anthony Kinkel, Motlow State Community College president, and Dr. Kimberly Estep, WGU Tennessee chancellor, recently celebrated and re-signed an articulation agreement that has allowed more than 85 Motlow State faculty, staff and graduates to further their education.

6/6: Motlow College Nursing Program Graduates 57 in 2016
Motlow State Community College graduated 57 nursing students during commencement ceremonies on May 7. The evening before graduation, nurses took part in the annual nurse pinning ceremony inside Nisbett Center on the Moore County campus.

6/1: Motlow State Foundation Fayetteville golf tournament raises over $8,000 for student scholarships
The Motlow State Community College Foundation recently held its 25th annual Charles Gleghorn Golf Tournament. The event, at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Fayetteville, was sponsored by the Bank of Lincoln County and raised over $8,000 for student scholarships at Motlow.

5/31: Motlow State brings nationally recognized Mechatronics program to Fayetteville campus
Motlow State Community College is bringing its nationally recognized mechatronics program to the Fayetteville campus beginning with the fall 2016 semester. Local industry stands to benefit directly from this expansion.

5/27: Motlow State awarded $25,000 SERS Grant by Tennessee Board of Regents
Motlow State Community College was recently selected to receive a Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Student Engagement, Retention, and Success (SERS) grant for the 2016-2017 academic year in the amount of $25,000.
