05/14: Motlow Announces GED Test Dates and Changes
The next two dates to take the General Educational Development (GED) test at Motlow College are June 13 and July 26. The five-part test will be given from 7:20 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in room 1043 of the Crouch Center on the Moore County campus.

05/10: Elk Valley Scholarships Awarded
Motlow graduates Kerry-Anne DeCamp of Lynchburg, left, and Michelle St. John of Morrison, right, were each recently granted $1,200 scholarships to help complete their accounting degree at a university.

05/03: Nurse Pinning to be Held Friday at Motlow
The Nursing Program at Motlow College will host a pinning ceremony for seventy-one students who have successfully completed requirements to participate in Motlow's graduation Saturday.

05/02: Motlow Conducts Two Skype Graduations in Moore County
SFC Joshua Paul Moon of Beechgrove and SFC Tracy Allan Banta of Smyrna completed the requirements to earn an associate of science degree and with the modern technology of Skype, Dr. MaryLou Apple, president of Motlow College, conferred their degrees.

05/01: Motlow's Male Nursing Enrollment Almost Doubles National Average
The Motlow College class of 2012 has more male nursing students than the last three years combined. Nationally, men make up only 13 percent of all new nursing students, compared to Motlow's 22.5 percent this year.

04/30: PTK Members to Graduate
Motlow College sponsors the Alpha Xi Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society of two-year colleges.

04/26: Twenty Students Recieve President's Award
Twenty students at Motlow College have achieved academic excellence with a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA). Those students received the President's Award during the recent student recognition ceremony and are pictured with Dr. MaryLou Apple, president of Motlow.

Recently, students and spectators were treated to cookies, cake, and new works of art as Motlow College hosted a reception for the student art exhibit. The pieces will be on display to the public in the Eoff Hall Art Gallery through May 3.

04/26: Presidential Student Leadership Institute
Dr. MaryLou Apple, president of Motlow College, created the leadership institute to mentor exceptional students while they learn the principles of leadership.

04/23: Schedule Now for Red Cross Blood Drive at Motlow College
The Student Government Association (SGA) of Motlow College is sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, April 25 at the Moore County campus. The blood drive will take place in the Marcum Technology building, room 105 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

04/19: Car Club Sponsors Scholarship
Tri-Lakes Sports Car Club of Tullahoma recently awarded a $500 scholarship to Jennifer Amacher, a student in the Adult College Express (ACE) program at Motlow.

04/18: Motlow Hosts Multi-Cultural Event Smyrna
Moneda Grimes, assistant professor of sociology at Motlow College, recently brought her sociology students and members of the community together for an event called "Celebrating Diversity" at the Smyrna Town Centre.

The Motlow College Biology Club in Smyrna sponsored an Earth Day hike recently at Savage Gulf State Natural Area outside of Gruetli-Laager.

04/18: Golf Tournament in Fayetteville to Benefit Motlow College Foundation
While visions of "The Masters" are still fresh in the minds of golfers, it's time for local teams to sign up for the 21st Annual Charles Gleghorn Invitational Golf Tournament to be held May 18 at the Fayetteville Golf and Country Club. The tournament is sponsored by the Bank of Lincoln County and benefits the Motlow College Foundation.

04/17: Motlow's Excellent Faculty Recognized at Annual Awards
A reception was recently held at the Clayton-Glass Library on the Moore County campus to recognize full-time and adjunct faculty members nominated for the annual Faculty Excellence Awards.

04/13: Motlow College Spring Concert Is April 19
The Motlow College music department will present their 19th annual spring concert on April 19th in Powers Auditorium of Eoff Hall at 7 p.m. The concert, under the direction of Thomas Breece, assistant professor of music, is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

04/12: Public Invited to Career Fair at Motlow College April 25
Motlow College Career Planning and Extended Services will host the annual Career Fair April 25 in the courtyard of the main campus in Moore County from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no pre-registration or fee required for students or members of the community to attend the event.

The Art and Communication Clubs of Motlow College recently traveled together to visit museums and theatres in Atlanta, Ga.

04/09: Motlow Theatre Department Performs American Premiere of "Carrie's War"
The theatre classes at Motlow College will present the play "Carrie's War" beginning Thursday in Powers Auditorium of Eoff Hall on the Moore County campus.

Judge Vanessa Agee Jackson will deliver the commencement address at the Motlow College graduation May 5 in Copperweld Arena of the Nisbett Center on the Moore County campus.

03/30: Dr. Hazel R. O'Leary Visits Motlow
Dr. Hazel R. O'Leary, president of Fisk University, recently addressed students, faculty, staff and guests at Motlow's Moore County campus. Invited to speak in recognition of Women's History Month, Dr. O'Leary said she would never turn down the opportunity to talk to young people and an audience interested in higher education.

All Motlow College facilities, including the Moore County campus and centers in Fayetteville, McMinnville and Smyrna, will be closed Friday, April 6 for a spring holiday administrative closing.

Students anxious to enter the emergency medical services (EMS) workforce can become pre-hospital, emergency medical services providers with Motlow College's one-semester emergency medical technician intravenous therapy (EMT-IV) course.

Follett Bookstore at Motlow College will host local authors Lona Bailey and Weldon Payne for a book signing reception on Wednesday, Mar. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Motlow hosts the American premiere of Carrie's War, a play that follows two children who are evacuated from London in 1940 to escape the bombing of World War II.

The Former U.S. Secretary of Energy and President of Fisk University come to speak at Motlow as part of Women's National History Month.

02/24: Register to Earn a Workforce Development Readiness Certificate at Motlow College
Motlow will offer classes, at no cost to the student, to better prepare them for the workforce. At the completion of four weeks of evening classes, students will earn a Workforce Development Readiness Certificate.

Motlow State Community College picked up key funding support to expand its Smyrna campus this week when Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess proposed a $200,000 donation.

Dr. Apple and Dr. Copenhaver visited the campus of Tennessee State University (TSU) recently to sign a dual admissions agreement between the two school to assure a seamless transfer from Motlow to TSU.

11/17: Motlow Nurses Donate to Backpack Program
The Student Nurse Association (SNA) of Motlow College recently collected food to benefit Coffee County's Backpack Program. The idea came from a student doing clinical rotations with their school system.

The Motlow College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recently held a soup drive to benefit the local domestic violence program, Haven of Hope, Inc.

11/17: Bucks Survive Nashville All-Stars
The Motlow Bucks connected on 22 of 28 free throw attempts in the second half to pull away from the Nashville All-Stars and capture a 91-73 victory in a foul-filled contest at Copperweld Arena.

11/17: Lady Bucks Hold Off Gadsden State
Chattanooga freshman Alexxus Sturkey scored 12 of her team-high 14 points in the second half to help the Motlow Lady Bucks hold off Gadsden State Lady Cardinals 73-62 at Copperweld Arena Wednesday night.

11/14: Motlow Hosts Ingram Administration Opening Ceremony
Motlow College will host an official opening for the newly renovated Ingram Administration Building on the Moore County campus. The public is invited to tour the facility Sunday, Nov. 20, from 1 - 3 p.m.

11/14: Bucks Beat Nationally Ranked Columbia State
Sophomore point guard Ricky Tisdale converted a rare four-point play to ignite the Motlow Bucks to an 18-2 run early in the first half to a 55-41 victory over the nationally-ranked Columbia State Chargers on Friday, Nov. 11 in Columbia.

11/14: Lady Bucks Win in Overtime Thriller
The Motlow Lady Bucks earned a split in their first two Tennessee Community College Athletic Association contests with an 84-79 overtime win over the Jackson State Lady Generals on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Jackson.

11/11: Motlow Launches TechTube Tutorials
Motlow College recently created a series of tutorials called TechTube. The instructional videos are accessible through the college website and the Motlow College YouTube channel.

11/10: Motlow Hosts Fall Concert
The Motlow College music department will perform their 19th annual fall concert November 17, at 7 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy an evening of vocal and instrumental music provided at no charge.

11/10: Motlow Opens Conference Play Friday Night in Columbia

The crowd stood in stunned silence late Saturday afternoon at Copperweld Arena, unable to immediately process what it had just witnessed, while the Wallace State Lions celebrated their unlikely 61-59 win over the Motlow Bucks.

Motlow College receives $10,000 of the $130,000 AT&T recently donated to the Tennessee Board of Regents to support students enrolled in the new accelerated pathways technical certificate and degree programs in Tennessee.

10/19: Austin Peay and Motlow College Sign Agreement
In keeping with the recent Tennessee Pathways Guarantee, officials of Austin Peay State University (APSU) visited Motlow College Monday to sign a dual admissions agreement assuring a seamless transfer between the two schools.

10/18: Residual ACT Given at Motlow
Motlow College will administer the Residual ACT assessment 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. on November 8, in Crouch Center room 1043 on the Moore County campus. Applicants under 21 who missed the ACT national test dates can register for the Residual ACT assessment for admission to Motlow.

10/18: Motlow College Administers COMPASS Test for Placement
COMPASS is a computer testing system used to assess a student's readiness for college level work. Potential Motlow students, 21 or older, must take all three portions (reading, writing, and math) of the COMPASS test unless they have valid ACT scores on file.

10/18: Motlow Announces GED Test Before End of Year
Motlow College will administer the General Educational Development (GED) test four times before the end of the year. The five-part test will be given from 7:20 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 20, November 1, 10 and December 1.
