Physics

Associate of Science (TTP) Degree Checklist

Program Description

The Physics program at Motlow College is designed to provide students with an introduction to the basic principles and laws of motion, energy, and structure with a close examination of technical measurements. Physics is a very specialized area of study and is a great start for students interested in pursuing careers as engineers, physicists, mathematicians or statisticians. Students will be introduced to some of the following principles:
  • laws of rotational motion and simple machines
  • technical measurements, forces, vectors, equilibrium, velocity and acceleration, work, energy, and power
  • electricity and magnetism
  • light and optics
  • study of temperature, heat transfer, heat gas laws and thermodynamic applications
  • study of electrostatics, direct current, alternating current, sound, light, and nuclear physics

Practical Experience

Students will have opportunities for involvement and interaction by participating in the following:
  • hands-on lab experiences
  • in-depth research
  • problem solving
  • illustrations of certain principles and laws

Career Opportunities

  • engineer
  • physicist
  • mathematician
  • statistician
