Associates of Science (TTP) Degree Checklist
Program Description
The Chemistry program within the Natural Science Department is designed to provide students with an understanding of what chemistry means, how to identify the chemical makeup of certain matter and how to apply that knowledge for the creation of processes that form new substances. This program area will allow students an opportunity to develop a solid foundation for further educational and career opportunities. Students will be introduced to concepts, like:
- atoms and molecules
- equation writing and compound naming
- the classification of common elements
- solids and liquids
- solutions, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics
- carbon compounds
- and more dynamic and interesting coursework that prepare students for bachelor's degree completion at any one of Tennessee's colleges and universities
Practical Experience
Students will be introduced to the following:
- hands-on lab opportunities
- making predictions
- a study of fundamental chemical principles
- an understanding of molecular structure
- and so much more!
