Associates of Science (TTP) Degree Checklist
Program Description
The Biology program within the Natural Science Department is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of our bodies, our earth and our environment. This program area will allow students an opportunity to develop a solid foundation for further educational and career opportunities. Students will be introduced to complex concepts, like:
- ecology
- cell structure and cell processes
- an examination of the kingdoms of living organisms
- the structure and function of the human body
- development of microorganisms, especially bacteria
- genetics
- and other dynamic and very interesting coursework that prepare students for bachelor's degree completion at any one of Tennessee's state colleges and universities
Practical Experience
Students will be introduced to the following:
- hands-on lab opportunities
- computation of statistical probabilities and outcomes
- complex DNA structure, relationships and mutation
- the complexities of the human body including the skeletal, muscular, nervous, sensory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems
