Using the Library Catalog

Begin searching the catalog
  • Click on “Find books” from the Library Home Page


  • The search screen will open for a catalog search


  • A word or words may be entered for keyword, advanced, author, title, subject, or call number searches…..

Keyword Searches
  • A keyword search searches all data fields (title, subject, author, etc.) for the terms you enter in the search text box.


  • Type a word included in the title, subject or author’s name in the search box.  Click Submit.


  • The results will reflect all holdings containing your search entry word(s).

  • Limits by library, language, publication year, and publisher
  • Limits by material type (videos, recordings,
  • pamphlets, eBooks- more possibilities are listed on a later slide)

  • Select one or all of the college libraries

  • Use “and,” “and not,” “or,” or “near” to define your search.


  • Or you may use author, title, or subject in the different search boxes.

Advanced Search Limits by library, language, publication year, and publisher

  • Choose to search any or all of five community college libraries for books or materials or from four Motlow site libraries.


  • Choose among seven language choices.


  • 3. Specific year or publisher may be chosen to limit your search.
