Humanities Department
The Humanities Department at Motlow College supports the mission of the college by providing and delivering quality instruction in the academic areas of Art, Music, Mass Communications, and Speech and Theatre. The department provides many new students with their first exposure to college-level humanities and also provides the college family and the community with diverse cultural offerings. The commitment of the department is three fold:
- prepare students for successful transfer to 4 year institutions
- provide enrichment and exposure through cultural experiences
- promote the arts for students and the community.
Overall, the Humanities Department strives to provide a basic foundation in communication and the arts in speaking, singing, painting, drawing, writing, and acting which will be relevant in all life experiences.
The students learn from the expertise and knowledge of dedicated and qualified faculty members. The faculty, full-time and adjuncts, work to provide an exciting learning environment with small stimulating classes and hands –on experiences. All four campuses provide Humanities opportunities by offering some courses from all of the major areas.
In addition to the cultural events provided by college faculty and students, the Humanities Department coordinates all Motlow visiting cultural activities which are presented for the community. These include special musical performances, theatrical performances, and art shows. The Humanities is a very busy department offering students meaningful and enriching experiences and friendships that will last for a lifetime.
