Writer's Guidelines

All submissions are to be typed, double-spaced, with name, address, and telephone number on the first page (or each poem for poetry submissions). Please include sufficient biographical material in your cover letter for a biographical note should your manuscript be selected for inclusion.

Always include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of your manuscript. Manuscripts received without a SASE will not be acknowledged.

Fiction should be no longer than 4,000 words.  Poetry should not exceed 100 lines. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable if noted on cover letter. Personal and critical essays should also fall within the 4,000 word limit.Simultaneous submissions are acceptable.  Allow two to three months for a response.

The Distillery acquires First North American Serial Rights. All other rights revert to the author upon publication. Reprinted material may be considered, but we prefer unpublished submissions.

Contributors will receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their work appears.

Electronic submissions are encouraged. Please send your submission with cover letter as a MS Word attachment to distillery@mscc.edu. You will receive an email response within four months. Manuscript guidelines still apply.

Photographer's Guidelines

Cover: A transparency (slide positive) 35mm or larger format. Generally a vertical format is preferred.

Inside: Black and white prints sized 5" X 7" to 8" X 10". For inside color, a transparency (slide positive) should be 35mm or larger format. These can be either vertical or horizontal format.

All slides and prints must have the artist's name, address and phone number on them. A brief biographical sketch should be included.

While The Distillery will take reasonable precautions to prevent loss or damage to the works submitted, the artist agrees not to hold Motlow State Community College, The Distillery, or any person associated with The Distillery responsible for loss or damage.
