Mission Statement
The Motlow State Community College Counseling Center provides services to students including academic, career, and personal counseling. Services are usually provided on an individual basis. Students who require counseling beyond the scope and expertise of the staff are referred to professional agencies within the community.
It is recognized that students face a variety of issues that may impair their ability for optimum personal development and to cope with many of the stressors of college as well as daily life. The mission of the counseling center is to assist students in resolving these issues and to provide information, which will facilitate good decision-making.
Outcomes of counseling sessions are as unique and diverse as the students who receive the services, ranging from intervention that alleviates suicidal tendencies to information that helps to set career goals. Ultimately, the desired outcome is and individual who is well adjusted and has a sense of self.
