Not all careers require a two or four-year degree. Motlow State's Career in a Year initiative promotes the many career and technical education programs that train students in a year or less.

Fast-track your way to career success in high-demand, high-wage fields. These credentials can prepare students to immediately enter the workforce or be additional certification as the student pursues an associate degree.

Career in a Year Certificate Programs

Mechatronics

A blend of mechanical, electrical and computerized technologies that together form a complex system used by many manufacturing, packaging and other modern operations. Upon successful completion of the certificate, students will have the opportunity to complete the Level 1 Certification Examination to become a certified Siemens Mechanics System Assistant.

Career Options Include: Industrial maintenance technician, engineering technician, manufacturing technology technician and product design technician.

Paramedic

The Paramedic is an emergency medical professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Upon successful completion of Emergency Medical Training, students are eligible to sit for the practical certification examination as well as the written exam.

Career Options Include: Emergency 911 services, hospitals, ambulance services, fire departments, private industry paramedic and flight paramedic.

Emergency Medical Technician

The EMT is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide basic emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Upon successful completion of Emergency Medical Training, students are eligible to site for the practical certification examination as well as the written exam.

Career Options Include: Emergency 911 services, hospitals, ambulance services, fire departments, private industry paramedic and flight paramedic.

Emergency Medical Technician Advanced

The AEMT is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide basic emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Upon successful completion of Emergency Medical Training, students are eligible to site for the practical certification examination as well as the written exam.

Career Options Include: Emergency 911 services, hospitals, ambulance services, fire departments, private industry paramedic and flight paramedic.

Early Childhood Education Technical

The Early Childhood Technical Certificate of Credit prepares the student for a career in child care and early education. This program is intended for students who are seeking a short-term program concentrated in the area of early childhood education for the purpose of developing or updating credentials leading to Child Development Associate (CDA).

Career Options Include: Teacher's aide, childcare professional, private childcare, pre-K assistant and daycare worker.
