Academic Advisement
At Motlow College, we believe academic advisement is an essential element for success in planning a student's educational and career path. Advisement is accomplished through one-on-one interaction between students and their assigned academic advisor. Students are assigned academic advisors according to their program of study immediately after enrolling in the college. If a student changes their program of study, they should also change their advisor. Advisors are full -time faculty members who teach in an academic subject related to or primary to the student's program.
Although student's have the ultimate responsibility for shaping their future, academic advisors will be there to assist students in identifying academic and professional goals. Together with their advisor, students can create an action plan to help achieve these goals. An advisor within the student's area of study can help to understand degree requirements, choose courses, schedule classes, and monitor academic progress. Students should work closely with a faculty advisor each term prior to registration as the academic advisors are knowledgeable concerning program development and changes. When a student's assigned advisor is not available, students should seek advice from another faculty-advisor who teaches in the same or related subject or contact the Academic Advising Center for assistance.
