The scope of the academic program at Motlow College provides the following alternatives for its students:
- An associate degree program designed for transfer purposes
- An associate degree program designed for immediate career application
- A concentrated, short-term certificate program
For each program of study completed toward receiving either the Associate of Arts degree, the Associate of Science degree, or the Associate of Applied Science degree, a student will identify a major and will select, when applicable, an area of emphasis/concentration in that major.
University Parallel Major (Associate of Arts/Associate of Science)
At Motlow College, a student planning to transfer to a baccalaureate program may earn an Associate of Arts Degree or an Associate of Science Degree. The University Parallel Major in the associate degree program is the transfer program within which a student selects an area of emphasis. Business Technology Major
Motlow College offers a business technology major with the following concentrations: accounting, business computer applications, business management, computer programming and professional studies. These two-year programs are for the student who does not intend to transfer to a four-year institution. The Associate of Applied Science Degree is awarded. Early Childhood Education Major
Motlow College offers an Early Childhood Education major. The academic course work and clinic practicums prepare students for CDA (Child Development Associate) assessment and credentialing. Nursing Major
Motlow College offers a nursing major in a program, leading to the Associate of Applied Science Degree. Upon completion of the program, graduates who are eligible, per criteria of the Tennessee Board of Nursing, may write the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse. The Honors Scholar Program provides a path to excellence for academically talented students who want to derive maximum benefit from their educational experience. Motlow Online Degree Programs
In today's competitive business environment, employees need to use every opportunity available for advancement. It used to be that job advancement was based mostly on seniority, but not so in today's workplace. The individuals that get ahead in today's business environment are those that are able to keep up with the technology and the changing practices and strategies of business. Dual/Joint Enrollment
Joint enrollment is the enrollment of a high school student in one or more college courses for which the student will earn only college credit. Dual enrollment is the enrollment of a high school student in one or more specified college courses for which the student will be awarded both high school and college credit. Adult College Express Program:
This program is intense and fast-paced. Get ready to move on with your degree aspirations. If you are a working adult, want your degree quickly, and are not afraid to follow your dreams, ACE is for you.
Classes are held one night each week for 5 weeks and last for 4 hours each night (except 4 hour courses). There is an additional group study night. You only take one class at a time. You must be a highly motivated, independent learner to be successful with this format. A mandatory attendance policy is strictly enforced.
This program will not allow you to transfer into specific programs such as nursing or education. You should consult with an advisor to ensure you are following the correct degree program.
To enroll, you should complete a Motlow College application for admission and submit a one-time non-refundable $10 application fee along with your official high school transcript or GED scores and any college transcripts. If you are over 21 and have not previously attended college you will be required to complete COMPASS testing to determine if you have any developmental requirements. Next, complete an application for Adult College Express including an essay as to why you should be selected and 2 letters of recommendation. Upon selection for ACE, you will be required to attend a mandatory orientation session before beginning the program. If you have previously earned college credits, your transcript will be evaluated to determine your eligibility for the program. An interview may be required.
