American City Bank Honored at Motlow College Foundation's Annual Meeting
June 8, 2011
The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) began a special award in 2002 to honor those who give generously of their time and finances to a TBR institution and who exemplify outstanding volunteer efforts in raising money for one of their schools. During the Motlow College Foundation's annual meeting TBR Chancellor John Morgan presented the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Philanthropy to American City Bank. Troy Martin, president and CEO and Carter Sain, executive vice president accepted the award for American City.
The list of support and contributions mentioned during the presentation included American City's sponsorship of the Motlow College Foundation's annual Gala and golf tournaments as well as other special fundraising events. High praise was given for the bank committing $8,000 annually for gap scholarships to help high school students of Tullahoma, Coffee County, Franklin County and Huntland attend Motlow through the dual enrollment program.
Morgan praised the officers and board members of American City for paving the way for the College to establish naming opportunities to add to the Foundation's endowment. Because of the bank's generous donations a classroom in the Marcum Technology Center and the President's Conference Room in the Ingram Administration building on the Moore County campus are named in honor of American City.
In his presentation Morgan said, "For nearly 30 years American City Bank has been instrumental in supporting Motlow State Community College and higher education." He continued, "Without the assistance of American City Bank, many students may have been unable to attend College."
