Motlow Students Honored at Phi Theta Kappa All-Tennessee Academic Luncheon
February 17, 2011
Motlow students Tina M. Redmon and Kyle A. McCurry were among the 28 students across Tennessee named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) 2011 All-Tennessee Academic Team at their annual luncheon held in Nashville on February 15.
Along with sharing the spotlight of this prestigious award, Tina and Kyle share other similarities. They are both sophomores at Motlow's McMinnville Center, plan to graduate from Motlow in May and attend Tennessee Technological University (TTU) this fall.
Redmon has a 3.80 GPA, is the class chairperson for Leadership McMinnville and PTK president for all of Motlow's sites; Moore County, Fayetteville, McMinnville and Smyrna. She plans to major in accounting at TTU.
McCurry is the McMinnville Center's PTK vice-president, Student Government Association sophomore senator and a member of Motlow's Presidential Student Leadership Institute. He currently has a 4.0 GPA and plans to major in pre-pharmacy at TTU.
McCurry's sentiment posted on his social website page sums up the honor, "I am thrilled to receive this elite award." He continued, "There were only 28 All-Tennessee Academic Team awards given and I never thought by going to a community college first, it would make my academic life so much better. I am so honored and it is all thanks to Motlow!"
