Motlow Foundation Announces Annual Gala
February 14, 2011
Representatives of American City Bank, The Clayton Family Foundation and the Motlow College Foundation have completed the planning details for the foundation's largest annual fundraising event. The 19th Annual Motlow College Gala will be held at the Manchester-Coffee County Conference Center on March 5, 2011. Social hour begins at 6:30 followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Key Largo, a band from Nashville, will provide the musical entertainment until 11:45.
Larry D. Pelfrey, director of advancement for major and planned gifts at the College said, "One of the more popular events of the evening is the silent auction." He continued, "We appreciate and I do hope members of the community will notice and thank the many businesses and individuals who have donated items for the auction. We also want to thank those that volunteer their time to collect the gifts, organize and display everything."
Pelfrey added, "I especially want to thank American City Bank and The Clayton Family Foundation for their investment in our students. They have sponsored this event for the last five years at an annual cost of $12,500. Without their help, the cost would prohibit us from having such a nice event."
Tickets for the Gala are still available. The cost is $100 per guest, a portion of which is tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations regarding charitable events. According to Pelfrey, all proceeds from the Gala go directly toward student scholarships and last year over $30,000 was raised.
While this is considered a 'Black-tie Event,' the black tie is optional. The foundation's goal for the evening is for the community to come together and have a great time while supporting the people in our region who are pursuing an education.
